The newly sworn-in Cabinet of the National People’s Power (NPP) comprises 22 ministers, including the President.

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education is a woman and the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has also been assigned to a woman. Six ministers were appointed from the National List, while Gampaha district received three cabinet portfolios. Two cabinet Ministers represent Matara district.

Notably, there is no direct representation from the Northern and Eastern Provinces in the Cabinet. Additionally, districts such as Galle, Hambantota, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, and Polonnaruwa are unrepresented.

Ethnically, two members of the Cabinet are identified as Tamil, but there is no Muslim representation. Among the appointees, approximately three-fourths are Sinhala Buddhist members of the Govigama caste. However, a few portfolios, including the Prime Ministership, are held by members of other castes.

The President himself retains the key ministries of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Defense, and Digital Economy. The full list of cabinet members and their respective portfolios is as follows:

  2. Vijitha Herath – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism (Gampaha District)
  3. Prof. Chandana Abeyratne – Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government (Puttalam District)
  4. Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara – Minister of Justice and National Unity (Colombo District)
  5. Saroja Savitri Paulraj – Minister of Women and Child Affairs (Matara District)
  6. K.D. Lal Kantha – Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation (Kandy District)
  7. Dr. Anura Karunathilaka – Minister of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing (National List)
  8. Ramaligam Chandrasekaran – Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic, and Marine Resources (National List)
  9. Prof. Upali Pannilage – Minister of Rural Development, Social Protection, and Community Empowerment (National List)
  10. Sunil Handunnetti – Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development (Matara District)
  11. Ananda Wijepala – Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs (Kurunegala District)
  12. Bimal Rathnayake – Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation (National List)
  13. Prof. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi – Minister of Buddhist Affairs, Religious, and Cultural Affairs (Ratnapura District)
  14. Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa – Minister of Health and Media (Kalutara District)
  15. Samantha Vidyarathna – Minister of Plantations and Rural Infrastructure (Badulla District)
  16. Sunil Kumara Gamage – Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (National List)
