Meanwhile the first phase of the provision of fertilizer subsidies for the Maha season, has been concluded.
Accordingly, the fertilizer subsidy had been provided to 23 districts, covering 86,162 hectares.
The Agrarian Services Department says that a total of about 1.29 billion rupees has been provided to 129,229 farmers across the island.
Meanwhile, Commissioner General of Agrarian Services Rohana Rajapaksha says that the fertilizer subsidy will be provided to farmers depending on how plantation activities are being carried out.
The provision of this subsidy for farmers in parts of the Polonnaruwa district has been delayed, due to the delayed release of water from the Giritale and Kaudulla reservoirs.
