The government has decided to impose taxes on 14 additional sectors, announced State Minister of Finance, Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. Among these sectors are large-scale private tutoring classes, private schools, private medical service centers, engineering service centers, and mining services.

State Minister Siyambalapitiya stated that the Inland Revenue Department will conduct thorough investigations into the income of all registered entities within these sectors. He emphasized that no individual will be given the opportunity to evade tax payments.

The State Minister highlighted that there has never been a period where such special attention was focused on tax payments. He insisted that all entities within the aforementioned 14 sectors must be mandatorily registered for tax payment.

This move aims to enhance revenue collection and ensure transparency and compliance within these sectors.
