President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has approved the promotion of 139 Officers and 1,273 Other Ranks in a move to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
This decision, made on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defence and Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, underscores the symbolic importance of this milestone.
In the Officers’ category, 131 Lieutenants have been promoted to the rank of Captain, including Quarter Masters, and 8 Second Lieutenants have been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant in both the Regular and Volunteer Forces.
For Other Ranks, the promotions include 99 Warrant Officers-II to Warrant Officer-I, 185 Staff Sergeants to Warrant Officer-II, 380 Sergeants to Staff Sergeant, 346 Corporals to Sergeant, 111 Lance Corporals to Corporal, and 152 Privates to Lance Corporal, covering both the Regular and Volunteer Forces.
