The Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera said that the Parliament is scheduled to meet from the 4th to the 7th June. The Parliamentary business pertaining to this week have been decided recently (28) in the Committee on Parliamentary Business held under the chairmanship of Speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, the 4th of June, the time from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, has been allotted for Questions for Oral Answers. Then it has been decided to hold the debate on the second reading of the Women Empowerment Bill from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. Subsequently the Private Members’ Bills of Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) and Dadigama Sri Maithri Pragnartha Bouddha Educational Dhaham Sabhawa (Incorporation) are scheduled to be taken for the consideration.
After that from 5.00 pm to 5.30 pm, the Motion at the Adjournment Time (Government) is scheduled to be debated.
On Wednesday, the 5th of June from 9.30 am to 10.00 am, time has been allotted for Questions to be asked from the Prime Minister (04 Questions). Then the time from 10.00 am to 10.30 am has been set aside for Questions for Oral Answers (05 questions).
It has also been agreed to approve the Regulations published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2311/40 under the Electronic Transactions Act, the Regulations published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2362/23 under the Civil Aviation Act and the Regulations published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2374/17 under the Petroleum Resources Act without debate. Subsequently, it has been decided to hold the Adjournment Debate on the ‘Issues pertaining to the education sector’ moved by the opposition until 5.30 pm.
On Thursday the 6th of June, the time from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, has been allotted for Questions for Oral Answers. Then, from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm, the Second Reading debate on the Sri Lanka Electricity Bill is scheduled to be held.
Then from 5.00 pm to 5.30 pm, the Motion at the Adjournment Time (Opposition) is scheduled to be debated.
On Friday the 7th of June, from 9.30 am to 10.30 am, time has been allotted for Questions for Oral Answers. Then from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm the Public Debt Management Bill (second reading), Order published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2364/37 under the Port and Airports Development Levy Act, the Resolution under the Inland Revenue Act (Pertaining to the Convention between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka for the avoidance of Double Taxation and the prevention of Tax evasion with respect to Taxes on Income), Five Orders under the Special Commodity Levy Act, the Regulation published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2376/25 under the Inland Revenue Act and the Regulations published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2382/02 under the Welfare Benefits Act are scheduled to be debated.
