M.A. Sumanthiran, former MP and spokesperson for the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi , has urged the government to reveal the names of politicians involved in the distribution of liquor licenses during the previous administration. Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, he emphasized the importance of transparency amid rising concerns over the proliferation of liquor stores nationwide.

Sumanthiran called for the immediate release of a list detailing which parliamentarians recommended the opening of these establishments. “The public deserves to know who approved these licenses, especially before the upcoming elections,” he said, asserting that those implicated should be excluded from future office.
