Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés González Garrido, and Governor of North Western province and Member of Parliament, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, reportedly assessed the possibilities for cooperation.
During a meeting, both officials also examined the relations between the two countries, according to a note from the Cuban Embassy in Sri Lanka.
North Western is one of the nine provinces of Sri Lanka. Its capital is Kurunegala, which has a population of 28,571 inhabitants.
This province is known mainly for its several coconut plantations. Other major cities are Puttalam, Kuliyapitiya, and Chilaw.
Fishing, shrimp farming, and rubber tree plantations are other prominent economic activities in the province, which has a population of over two million, according to an official census.
