The Road Development Authority (RDA) has said that the construction of the Kadawatha-Mirigama section of the Central Expressway will take approximately two and a half years to complete.

A senior official from the project stated that the construction work had been halted during the previous government, citing the matters related to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreements.

The official also mentioned that discussions are planned to secure the necessary funding to resume construction.

Meanwhile, construction work on the Pothuhera-Rambukkana section of the expressway is currently underway and is expected to be opened within the next few months.
