The Ministry of Health has issued a warning about the potential resurgence of dengue fever due to the increased rainfall.

The Ministry Secretary, Dr. Palitha Mahipala, stated that measures are being taken to prevent mosquito breeding and the spread of dengue in the Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, and Puttalam districts.

Currently, the highest number of dengue patients is reported from the Colombo district, with a total of 10,558 cases.

Gampaha district has reported 4,978 cases, while Jaffna district has recorded 4,148 cases.

The National Dengue Control Unit indicated that, to date, 20 deaths have occurred due to dengue fever this year, with a total of 41,960 cases reported across the country.
