A police officer from Theldeniya has been remanded until the 4th of next month after allegedly misplacing a warrant issued by the Theldeniya Magistrate and subsequently forging the magistrate’s signature on a fake warrant to detain an individual. The warrant officer from Theldeniya Police presented himself to the court through an attorney and he was placed in remand custody.
The investigation was launched following a complaint filed on November 15, 2023, by the registrar of the Theldeniya Magistrate’s Court with the Special Crimes Investigation Division in Theldeniya. This complaint exposed the officer’s actions, leading to the legal proceedings currently underway.
