The United States has officially congratulated Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his victory in the Sri Lankan presidential election, confirmed by vote results on September 22.
US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller praised the people of Sri Lanka for peacefully exercising their right to vote, highlighting the election as a testament to the strength of the country’s democratic institutions.
“The United States remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka in building a stable, prosperous, and cohesive society,” Miller said. He expressed anticipation for further collaboration with Anura Kumara Dissanayake to enhance bilateral ties based on shared democratic values and to promote economic growth and security between the Countries.
